CSA Nuts and Bolts - 01Apr10

The Grob is put together and has a working transponder! It’s antenna is on the starboard side (that’s the right side) inside the nose. It is sitting about 6” further than the furthest point that my size 12 foot could possibly go forward as I was scrunched as far forward in the seat/cockpit as I could go without getting intimate with the control stick. Not even Mike Robertson could touch this thing. It is epoxied in, and the cable is run back along the air vent to the “guts” of the transponder which fit nicely behind the instrument panel.

Brad and I (mostly Brad, I gave some moral support) set it up and got it working. The ILEC is also installed and connected. We pulled the seat out and cleaned up underneath it. Hell, we even found the relief tube (though I hear that was really the back up ICS).

The hole for the antenna on 46 didn’t get drilled today, though everything else is good, it will be an easy job on Saturday morning to drill the hole and install. The stuff is sitting on the table in the hangar. I will bring my metal drilling bits if I can find them for Saturday.
