Cart Maintenance

• Be sure to do a thorough “preflight” on the carts before using them.  Recently, the gas cart was found to have its dipstick completely removed, with the resulting loss of oil and an overheat shutdown.  If you are uncertain about how to check the oil and ensure the dipstick is seated properly, ask someone who is already familiar with the system.

• Three of the grey cart batteries had multiple cells that were not covered with distilled water.  Be sure, after rinsing off the top of the batteries, you check every cell on every battery before operating the electric cart.  UPDATE: Five cells were high and dry on 7/19/09.  Be sure to check each cell on each battery before every day’s operations.
